Walking in Memphis

There is a song that I've been hearing on the radio lately by Frankie Ballard titled "A Buncha Girls," and whenever I make a road trip with a "buncha girls" I find myself singing this song in my head. Look it up and take a listen but a few of the lyrics are:

A Buncha Girls sitting on the deck, drinking fishbowl margaritas
A Buncha Girls down in Cancun, yeah some seven day senioritas

A Buncha Girls packed in a jeep, heading to the beach for the weekend

A Buncha Girls rockin out in Vegas, ain't got no time for sleepin

Part of the Chorus:

They say sha-la-la and hey-hey-hey with the band and party all night long
Laugh about it in the mornin, lookin at all the pictures and blame it on alcohol

Even though there isn't any reference to Memphis in the above song, after this weekend, I definitely think there should be.

This past weekend I traveled to Memphis to celebrate Ashley Harper (also known as D.J. Pickle Pop), one of my very best friends. 10 girls stayed on Beale Street and our jam packed weekend included a few world famous Silky's Divers, live music, a visit to Dyer's Burgers (featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives), my first Coyote Ugly experience (much to our disappointment neither LeAnn Rimes nor Tyra Banks was there) and so much more.

Also, what kind of Halloween Bachelorette weekend doesn't involve an
80s bride with a 9-person 80s entourage?

A very fun (and at times blurry) weekend only slightly eludes to the fun that is in store when we make the trip to her wedding in Antigua. In 36 days we'll be leaving on a jet plane!

I'll leave you today with a few tidbits: A Bourbon and Sprite is not the same as a Captain and Sprite, according to the Bride to Be, I make a really good nerd and when in doubt "get off your ass and jam."

Marie's Bachelorette Beach Bash

"Sometimes in life there really are bonds formed that can never be broken.
Sometimes you really can find that one person who will stand by you no matter what;
maybe you'll find it in a spouse and celebrate it with your dream wedding,
but there is also the chance that the one person you can count on for a lifetime,
the one person who knows you, sometimes better than you know yourself,
is the same person who's been standing beside you all along." ~ Bride Wars

This past weekend 13 girls gathered in Orange Beach to celebrate my best friend Marie. The weather and the company was nothing short of perfect.

A few things I learned:

1. If you can get away with having a T-shirt made for an event, go for it.

2. If a Turvis Tumbler is appropriate, make one.
3. Fanny packs are extremely convenient. Someone famous needs to bring them back into style.

"I'm on a roll, like butter."

It's hard to believe that it's already mid-October. Like so many others, I'm trying to figure out where the year has gone. It's been one wedding after the other (all very beautiful), one wedding shower after the other (who doesn't love a fantastic party), one football game after another (the best time of the year), one birthday party after the other (raise your hand if you attended Boudreaux's 30th Birthday Bar Crawl)... as Brad Boudreaux would say, "Looks like we're on a roll, like butter." We've ultimately mastered the art of going, going, going.

I'm blessed beyond words to have the people in my life that I do.

And with that said, the last several months have been a whirlwind of wedding showers, beginning with the Skrmetta/Davis shower in August. The couple is getting married in Disney World on November 14 and to pay homage, Mickey and Minnie made a special appearance on the cake. In addition, Jacqueline and Reed hold Ship Island near and dear to their heart, hence the "beach" theme.

Jaqueline and Reed | August 27 | Ocean Springs Civic Center

Let's be honest.
This is really what we all wanted to do with the party favor containers.

Marie and Trey | September 10 | The Boudreaux Home

A few weekends later, the same hostesses (minus Marie, add Jacqueline), threw a Stock the Bar party for the future Mr. and Mrs. Trey Richoux. A big thank you to Ian Taylor for once again providing top-notch entertainment and always being a crowd pleaser. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

We all loved our fish wine stop party favors.

Ashley and Ben | October 8 | The Boudreaux Home

The grand finale of all the wedding showers took place earlier this month. With Adam Doleac (and Ashley Harper) providing entertainment, gallons of Markland Martini's and a crowd comprised of Ben and Ashley's close friends and family, there was no doubt that this party would be a good time.

With all of the showers for the year coming to an end, a Bachelorette Beach Bash in Orange Beach and a Halloween Bachelorette weekend out on the town in Memphis are fast approaching. Happy October!
